Areas of focus 

This is a varied training plan. To race well in a road race, you'll need a solid base to build from but also have the ability to make the race winning move. Your base provides you the ability to keep up with the race pace, but the power work will develop your ability to snap across to the move or drill it in the gutter. 

Level of commitment 

Generally you should aim for a minimum of 5 hours per week. The event itself lends itself to having a bigger endurance base and therefore, you need the time in the saddle. You can't cheat this. 

As this plan is varied, you can use this plan to improve your ability in the bunch or can be a nice first plan to start out with.
