Cyclocross training plan

Have a cyclocross coming up, let's make sure you're top form. 



Plan length 

Can be up to 6 months, but make sure you have smaller goals leading up to your A event

Benchmarks for success

The benchmark for success will be your 5 min power, but you'll be also developing 1 min and 10 min power. 

Areas of focus 

This is a plan where you need to be sharp. A cyclocross race is full gas from start to finish. So that means you need to be able to handle the high end to push around the corners but also recovery under load. There will be a lot of on v. off efforts to simulate the racing demands. 

Level of commitment 

This is going to be dependent on the cyclocross race, but typically a race lasts 20 - 60 mins. Therefore you should aim for a minimum of 3-4 hours per week. Remember, in training to practice your cornering and transition from running too cycling.
