Crit racing plan
So you have a crit race coming up and you sharpening up your training?
Can be up to 6 months, but make sure you have smaller goals leading up to your A event
Benchmarks for success
The benchmark for success will be your 5 min power, but you'll be also developing your 10 min and 20 min powers.
Areas of focus
This is a power base plan where you need to be able to kick hard out of the corners, recover under load (riding Z2 and Z3) and push the pace of the bunch. You can use this plan if you want to improve your position on your local bunch ride and get home first.
Level of commitment
This is going to be dependent on the crit racing, but typically a race lasts 20 - 60 mins. Therefore you should aim for a minimum of 3-4 hours per week. Remember, in training to practice your cornering and learn how to ride in the drops.
